Masten's most recent Xombie flight took the rocket to 1,626 feet (496 meters) above the ground while beginning to fly sideways at the same time. With a horizontal component to its flight path, and peak altitude reached, the thrust from the rocket was reduced and Xombie began falling back to earth, accelerating to a speed of around 60 miles per hour.
